When was hunters in the snow written

Strange short story about 3 men "friends" who went on a hunting trip. Nov 20, Petite Clementine rated it really liked it Shelves: rev. I did not like many of the characters, or much of the plot, either. Wolff, however, is able to capture my attention with these three otherwise unremarkable characters, and keep it throughout the story. He garners my sympathy for these mundane men, and keeps me pondering over this story long after I have finished it.

It is only his deft weaving that kept me engrossed; that's all I have to say. A less talented writer would have lost my interest after the first page. Jan 29, Jason rated it it was ok. Strange read to be sure. However, very telling of human nature. Oct 11, Masoumeh Jafari rated it liked it. First was thrilled in my seat, but then gradually it reminded me of some movies as Jurasic Park!

I mean, my main question was whether this is a commercial or literary fiction, and I concluded at the end that it could be a literary fiction inclined to escape literature. But definitely it cannot be classified as an entertainment only. For one reason it's Tobias Wolff's story! And secondly it has some sentimental ties and pause-like moments where the reader really needs to hold on and THINK. All in First was thrilled in my seat, but then gradually it reminded me of some movies as Jurasic Park!

All in all, not a very best one of Wollf's works, though. Mar 21, Zoe Strope rated it did not like it Shelves: read-for-school , utter-bullcrap. This is my least favorite of the three stories I read for english class. The characters are unlikeable, the plot in my opinion is stupid, and the author doesn't really seem to know what he wants this story to be about. I don't know why the school system saw this as something we should read.

It will forever haunt my nightmares. May 28, Jennifer rated it really liked it Shelves: personal-favorites , plays-and-short-stories.

Read this one originally in college and it's stuck with me ever since. A really interesting examination of power, self-empowerment, friendship, and morality. Might be one of the best short stories I've ever read. May 28, Monica rated it it was amazing. I read this short story in my literature class and fell in love.

It was such an interesting story. One of the questions asked in my class was would this story have the same intense, impact if it was set in a different scene. When I first finished it I was like, huh? But the more I thought and pondered why these two men seemed apathetic about the third being shot and taking into account how they all treated each other I got it.

At first, I wasn't impressed. But this story stayed with me. Good read. Mar 01, Jesten rated it it was amazing. A story holding more depth than initially expected. Sep 16, Candida rated it liked it.

However, even for those who can spare only a few moments Bruegel captured the distinctive mood of each season — in this case of winter. Bruegel also made a significant contribution to landscape painting with his art. His landscapes are highly realistic and capture a transitory mood in a manner reminiscent of Patinir c. In all the paintings comprising the series of the Seasons , Bruegel leads us into the composition in the same way: from an elevated viewpoint, our gaze is directed onto the wide-open landscape spread out below.
